Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, 68, has a lot on his resume around which to build a traditional presidential candidacy. He has been governor of that successful state since 2013 and he served in the U.S. House of Representatives before that. As chairman of the Democratic Governors Association, he helped get seven new Democratic governors elected in 2018. But he will not run on economic fairness or bolstering access to health care or equal rights. His campaign will instead be focused on the single issue that Inslee argues preempts all others — the climate crisis.
